BHRT for Men
Women are not the only ones that suffer from hormonal imbalances, men do as well called andropause or male menopause. As men age, testosterone levels begin to decline once they hit 30 and dramatically drop in their 40’s and 50’s. Symptoms are similar to what woman experience during perimenopause and menopause. However, the difference is that the decline in hormones, for men, is not as sharp or as sudden as women’s during menopause, it is not as obvious. They may not feel drastic physical changes like lack of sleep or night sweats, but rather decrease in their energy, sex drive, and weight gain, lack of stamina, mental clarity, or sense of well-being.
Andropause affects different men in different ways and to different degrees. There are men who may get one or two of these symptoms, and may just notice the other symptoms occurring minimally or not at all.
Symptoms include:
- muscle loss
- decrease in sex drive
- erectile dysfunction
- weight gain
- depression/irritability/mood swings
- memory loss
- fatigue
- sleep problems
- increase breast tissue – Gynecomastia • hot flashes/night sweats
- urinary problems/increased frequency
